Mobile Tuberculosis Diagnosis and Treatment Program

TB infection rates and deaths continue to rise unabated in most of the third world, not because there is a lack of medicine, but because people do not have access to traditional medical facilities for diagnosis and treatment. We intend to change this by mobilizing the diagnosing and treatment clinics.

BCF is proposing a novel solution to combat TB in these parts of the world: by taking the diagnosis to the people by using Mobile TB Screening Vans.

We will dispense with using only the traditional culture test alone, and instead we will be in favor of a three-pronged combination of questionnaire, portable digital x-ray, and Cellestis Labs TB Gold QuantiFERON (QFT) blood test. Each of the vans will be containing small mobile labs, digital x-ray machines, satellite internet hook-ups, and generators, and will travel from town to town diagnosing the entire village, and treating those who need it. Doctors do not need to be present on the vans, as the x-rays can be sent instantly to doctors anywhere in the world, Manila or Miami.
